Strength training for longevity isn’t about lifting the heaviest weights.

CrossFit training with wall ball

It’s about building a body that allows you to keep hiking, traveling, playing with your grandkids, and saying yes to adventures for decades to come.

That’s exactly why Wendy has shown up more than 750 times over nearly five years at GROW Strength & Training.

There comes a point in almost everyone’s fitness journey when you have a choice.

Do you become comfortable…

Or do you continue growing?

Most people think consistency is showing up.

But consistency is also continuing to challenge yourself after the excitement wears off.

One of our members, Wendy, recently reached an incredible milestone: 750 workouts.

That’s nearly five years of showing up.

When I asked what she’s most proud of, I expected her to mention the number of workouts, the weights she’s lifting, or the years she’s been coming.

Instead, she said:

“I’m probably most proud of deciding not to settle and take the easy route.”

That answer stuck with me.

Because settling rarely happens all at once.

It happens in small decisions.

Using the same weight every week because it’s comfortable.

Skipping workouts because life gets busy.

Accepting stiffness or weakness as “just getting older.”

Wendy chose a different path.

Over the years, her goal has shifted from simply exercising to staying strong enough to continue doing everything she loves outside the gym.

She recently told me that one of the biggest benefits of strength training has been:

“Being able to do what I want to do and not worry about injury or being too out of shape to go on adventures.”

That’s what strength training really offers.

Not just stronger muscles.

A bigger life.

The people who continue thriving into their 60s, 70s, and beyond usually aren’t chasing perfection.

They’ve simply decided not to settle.

And those small decisions, repeated over years, become extraordinary.
